Operations Engineer
Overall Purpose of the Position: The position holder will provide support and assistance with operation performance issues related to reliability, incident analysis of operational events, and review of effectiveness of performance standards. Coordinate follow-up and solutions with field operations and other departments where applicable.
Responsibilities:
•Participate in reviews and follow-up with Operations to identify global reliability issues related to operational events.
•Participate in operation studies into equipment/process failures and successes and communicate details of the results to field operations for further follow up / feedback via Bulletins, Advisory's and Alerts.
•Participate in discussions with Well Construction, EHSQ; Engineering and Technical services as well as Human Resources related to operational improvements.
•Evaluate critical operational processes and identify key areas to improve operational effectiveness.
•Travel to rig (Worldwide) to conduct surveys and investigations as required.
•Participate in qualitative risk analyses including Hazard Identification Studies (HAZIDs), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs), Failure Mode and Effects (and Criticality) Assessments (FMECAs), etc. as required.
•Participate in incident analysis of operational events and OER's to identify causes to avoid future failures utilizing REASON Incident Analysis software. Translate lessons learned to performance standards or other follow up actions.
•Participate in SMART reviews as necessary of Operation Performance Standards with the various Company departments and locations.
•Assist department managers in identifying and communicating performance issues
Position and person Specifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical engineering. Five (5) years working in industry, preferably working for a company with business applications related to the onshore / offshore industry.
•Knowledge of MS Windows, Database (preferable Microsoft Access), Word Processor (preferably Microsoft Word), Spreadsheet (preferably Microsoft Excel).
•Very good communication skills, both oral and written.
•Ability to lead group discussions and maintain focus of group
•Ability to work unsupervised, undertake tasks on own initiative.
•Make effective use of company's resources.
•Use own judgement and initiative to determine the approach of action to take in non-routine situations.
•Must be familiar with applicable codes, guidelines and standards recommended by the Organization
•This position requires an individual with excellent problem solving, leadership and organizational skills.
