A. Position Purpose

The Inventory Accountant is responsible for developing and managing the centralized physical inventory process. He or she will be responsible for handling those accounting functions for our EPC client that relate to the cost of inventory, machinery, and raw materials on hand. He or she will determine inventory accounting methods, analyze inventory reports and monitor all inventory transactions. The Inventory Accountant will also monitor inventory related reports to find ways of reducing costs for the company. Naturally with inventory, there are often count variances; the inventory accountant will be expected to review these reports, along with actual inventory, to record these variances. He or she must then investigate variances that seem out of line, to avoid fraud within the company.

B. Position Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

§ Reconciles Inventory Accounts and related suspense accounts.

§ Prepares and enters all month end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations related to inventory and other related accruals.

§ Produces daily, monthly, quarterly and annual financial, operational and productivity reports.

§ Develops and recommends control procedures, related to the procurement, movement, selling and disposing of inventory, to assure accurate inventory records and the inventory cutoffs are maintained.

§ Secures financial information by completing data base backups.

§ Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.

§ Manages the physical inventory process. Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

§ Assists with internal and external audits.

§ Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.

§ Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.

§ Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

C. Position Requirements)

Functional/Technical Skills

§ MS Office Tools (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio)

§ Advanced MS Excel knowledge to include: pivot tables, vlookups, and other advanced database functions.

§ Functional understanding of software development and infrastructure project lifecycles within the Company.

§ Technical writing skills producing clear and unambiguous deliverables

Experience

§ Experience managing inventory and purchase orders, preferably in an EPC or Electric Utility environment.

§ Experience handling confidential materials in a professional manner.

§ 4+ year’s minimum experience in Accounting (Preferably Cost or Inventory Accounting).

Education/Vocational Training

A four year degree or equivalent experience in Accounting.

Environmental/Physical Demands

· Must have use of hands/fingers and capable of lifting within regulatory limits

· Business travel required (up to 30%)
